"Port Authority Throw Down" has been written by Mike Batistick. The play is about Pervez, a Pakistani descent who is in search of his brother. Pervez is the pivotal character of this play. Although Batistick, portrays the character as a Pakistani descent, but it could be the story of any race living in any society where they are the minority. The play shows that America claims to treat its citizen as equal, but most of the time it is very difficult for an open society to deliver on this pledge one hundred percent of the time. Pervez tries to become an American so that he can start a new life after he left his own society that did not welcome his chosen way of life, that is, his decision to be secular. Batistick, through his play tries to show us that race does matter and that however much we try bigotry is deep and it is very difficult to overcome
Through this play Batistick tries to identify the struggle of being allowed to be who we want to be. He has that unique ability to articulate the concerns of the working poor through a bitter, witty and nihilistic banter. The character that he has sketched for Pervez is completely believable and utterly likable especially when he is paired up with the humorous parochial Barb. After the first half-hour, Pervez search for his brother becomes diffused and intellectualized and the characters in the play become too didactic. The idea of Port Authority Throw Down came to Batistick when America was planning to invade Iraq. He wanted to write a play that captured the sense of agitation and fear that seemed to settle over the nation at the time.

In the year 2004, Mike Batistick's play "Ponies" was produced Off-Broadway by Michael Imperioli's theater company, Studio Dante. The play was named by The Independent of London a "Top 5 Play" and by Time Out London a "Critic's Choice". The play has also been chosen by Variety and Time Out New York a "Top 10. Then came Port Authority Throw Down that has been played in the Cape Cod Theatre Project and was directed by Gia Forakis. A small version of the play was included in the 2003 American Living Room Series Festival at HERE. It received a reading in the Underwood Theater's Out Loud! Reading Series in March 2004.His next play Bodega Lung Fat was selected as part of the Public Theater's 2003 New York Now! Festival. His new Flag was played at the Juilliard School and was selected for the 2004 Labyrinth Theater Co.'s Summer Intensive. His two other plays Manbaby and Chicken was also showed with the Labyrinth. Batistick is also a member of the MCC Playwright's Coalition and was also a Juilliard Playwriting Fellow from 2003-2005. He has completed his graduation from Fordham University in the Bronx. He has grown up in New Jersey and presently he stays in Brooklyn.
