Sister Act the musical does not follow the 1992 film, starring Whoopi Goldberg, exactly. Deloris Van Cartier is a lounge singer with dreams of hitting it big as a recording artist. She also has a mob boyfriend, Shank, and witnesses him and his goons committing a murder. That much is true of both the musical and the movie. Where Sister Act the musical takes a turn is that this story of a lounge singer masquerading as a nun in a Philadelphia covenant is set in 1978 and her police contact, Eddie, is an old classmate. Sister Act musical tickets are now available to see the 2010-2011 production starring Patina Miller as Deloris. Though many felt the version in Pasadena and London were good enough to grace the Broadway stage, but the producers brought in director Jerry Zaks and writer Douglas Carter to rewrite the book and revamp the musical for the stage at Broadway Theatre. The music and lyrics by Alan Menken and Glenn Slater remained the same. OnlineSeats has the Sister Act tickets to see this production live on Broadway.
