"Soul Searching" is beautiful musical by Matt Okin and Avi Kunstler showcasing the quest of a woman for the perfect man. The lead character of the musical is Brenda, a Jewish lady, a teacher who is tired of being alone. The first act of the musical show her friends Rachel, Becky, and Sara setting her up with men. These men later appeared possessing some of the worst qualities. One of the involved man is Alan who is an Orthodox Jew thinking very graceless about woman. He thinks that they should remain at home only. Peter is a mystic crazy of strange cults and celebrities and Mo is a highly reputed businessman who think that he can buy love with money. These men are not only discarded by Brenda, but also make her friends realize where they are lacking and what problems they are facing in their married life. they help focus her friends on the problems they're facing in their marriages.
The second act of the play introduces a new character, a wise spiritual leader and an unattached single man. He ensures Brenda and her friends with trust and patience that everyone can achieve his aim keeping himself determined. The things start working with the help of this man. All the characters despite being Jewish, realizes the power of being secular. This is a prominent thing one can notice in the end. The musical conveys the message of becoming strongly faithful to himself as well as God. One can achieve anything if he is having faith in himself, same required for Brenda and her friends.
