The Mountaintop is Katori Hall's latest play honoring the honor of Martin Luther King Jr., retelling the night before his assassination on April 4, 1968. The play is set in Room 306 at the Lorraine Motel, but the Mountaintop tickets are still tickets for an event called breathtaking and a triumph. In fact, the play opened on the West End in 2009 at Theatre503, transferred to Trafalgar Studios, and was nominated for three Olivier Awards, winning two.
Katori Hall has worked as a journalist and actress, but her passion is using her pen to write for the stage. The Mountaintop is the first play to earn international acclaim and comes to the United States for a production run on Broadway. As of right now, Kenny Leon is set to direct and Samuel L. Jackson has been tapped to play the most inspiring figure from the Civil Rights era. There have been murmurs the maid will be played by another Hollywood star, Halle Berry. Berry has been spotted up and down Broadway taking in a number of shows, including her friend Denzel's performance in Fences.
