Universoul Circus
Featuring traditional circus acts set to gospel, jazz and blues music, UniverSoul proclaims itself to be the only African-American-owned circus on earth. Everyone involved -- from the masters of the high wire to the peanut vendors -- are of African and Latin descent. They come from Trinidad, England, Spain, the United States and, of course, Africa. Instead of "Hear ye, hear ye, hear ye," the flamboyant ringmaster, Casual Cal, greets the expectant throng with "Yo, yo, yo, yo" and dance movements that James Brown would love. Along with rave reviews from all quarters, the troupe's hometown of Atlanta has hailed it as the "Cirque du Soul."

 The UniverSoul Circus is the only circus in the world wholly-owned by African Americans. One of the stars of the show is Nayakata, a contortionist from Valencia, Spain.
Creative director and producer Tom Marzullo designed road tours for Prince, Guns 'N' Roses and KISS before bringing his talents to UniverSoul.
