This is an upcoming musical play by Alfred Uhry. He is a professional songwriter, lyricist and comedy writer. Early in the career he supported himself as a teacher at an unknown New York private school and also as a college instructor. Now at 40 he wrote a play centerd on characters from his family in Atlanta. "Driving Miss Daisy", was the result of the effort. This was an off-Broadway show about a proud, obstinate Southern Jewish matron. She is forced to employ an African American chauffeur. Gradually the relationship they forged becomes the subject of exploration. This show earned him a Pulitzer Prize. Bruce Beresford made the film version in 1989. Alfred Uhry adapted his play and earned an Oscar for his efforts.

At an open classroom in Manhattan, Morocco Hemphill is a teacher. He teaches high school drama. Hemphili is inspirational, popular and loved by the kids. Then Lexy and Anton, students of the school, get the leads ''The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie,'' a school show, life starts to imitate art. Their relationship with Morocco mirrors the play. Morocco is an unorthodox instructor as Miss Brodie who stands up against conventionality. As in ''The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie,'' the special bond that forms between students and teacher eventually takes a treacherous turn. This is the story of the musical play.
Alfred Uhry is the only playwright who won the Pulitzer Prize in Drama, the Academy Award and two Tony Awards for ''The Last Night of Ballyhoo,'' a ply. Another of the Tony was for the book for the musical Parade. The director of the play is Christopher Ashley. He completed The Drama League's director's training program in 1987. Then he went on to serve as an assistant to Evan Yionoulis. The project was Richard Greenberg's one-act "The Author's Voice." It was presented at Marathon '87 at the Ensemble Theatre Studio. Then he graduated to become a full-fledged stager with the release of 1989 Off-Broadway play "The Night Hank Williams Died"
