Wizard of Oz- the Ballet is actually based on L. Frank Baum's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, which has been for centuries remained one of the most popular novel for the children as well as the adults. The story of the novel centers around a resourceful American girl is flown away by a Kansas tornado and is then dropped in wonderful as well as unbelievable land of witches, a scarecrow who can talk, a cowardly lion and many more. The book was written in the year 1900 by L. Frank Bauman and illustrated by W.W.Denslow. It was actually published by the George M. Hill company in Chicago, but since then it has been reprinted for countless times and sometimes it was also printed the name The Wizard of Oz. The story is regarded as one of the best-known stories in the popular culture of the Americans. The initial success led to more of baum's writing and also having published thirteen more Oz books. Since 1956, the book has been in public domain.
Frank Baum started his career in writing from a very early age. He was further boosted in writing by his father who bought him a printing press. Along with his brother Harry Clay Baum, Frank used it to produce The Rose Lawn Home Journal. They then issued several other issues of the journal and also included advertisements. When he attained the age of 17, Baum started a second amateur journal, The Stamp Collector which was printed on a pamphlet Baum's Complete Stamp Dealers' Directory. While he was carrying with his work of printing, he suddenly felt interested towards the theater, but he was duped by a local theatrical company who led him believe they would offer him the leading role if he would replenish their stock of costumes. Baum was hurt and so he left the theater company for some time. While working in his brothers-in-law company, he found that a clerk committed suicide in the store room and this incident inspired him to write The Suicide of Kiaros.
Show Biography - Wizard Of Oz The Ballet
After leaving the job, he went on to start his own poultry farm, where he specialized in raising a particular breed of fowl, the Hamburg chicken. In the year 1880, he established a monthly trade journal, The Poultry Record. He published his first book at the age of The Book of the Hamburgs: A Brief Treatise upon the Mating, Rearing, and Management of the Different Varieties of Hamburgs. Whatever he was doing, his interest never moved away from the stage, so his father built him a theatre in Richburg, New York. He gathered a company to act in them and also started writing plays. The first play The Maid of Arran a melodrama songs that was based on William Black's novel A Princess of Thule was a minor success. Apart from writing plays he also used to compose songs. But the theater caught fire, during a production of Baum's ironically-titled parlor drama, Matches, when he was touring with The Maid of Arra. The fire destroyed not only the theater but also the only known copies of many of Braun.s scripts as well as costumes and props. He then started writing books from the year 1897, such as Mother Goose in Prose, which was a moderate success, Father Goose, His Book, it became of the best-selling children's book of the year. But it was The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, that made him famous.
Wizard of Oz is one of those rare classics that can appeal to both adults and kids. It is a thoroughly American tale that wholly depicts the ethic of consumerism. Its underlying story penetrates straight into the insecurities that a child feels when left all alone in a strange island.
