Artist Biography - The Toasters
|
The band released a demo EP, "Recriminations," which was released in 1985 and produced by Joe Jackson. They issued their first full length album in 1987 titled, "Skaboom," . It was followed up with "Thrill Me Up" in 1988 and "This Gun for Hire" in 1990. The albums helped strengthen the band's following and bring the third-wave genre to a level of respectability. The Toasters had many changes in their lineup, the change was so much that by the end guitarist/vocalist Hingley was the only original member. Some members that remained with the group for a significant time were bassist Matt Malles, saxophonist Freddie Reiter, trumpeter Brian "The Sledge," trombonists Rick "Chunk" Faulkner and Erick "E-Man" Storckman, keyboardist Dave Barry, drummer Johnathan McCain, and vocalist Coolie Ranx.
The band also performed with many guest artists including saxophonist Lester "Ska" Sterling. The Toasters released a series of albums in the 1990's with moderate success. These included New York Fever in 1992, Dub 56 in 1994, Hard Band for Dead in 1996 and D.L.T.B.G.Y.D in 1997. The Toasters carried on into the new millennium and released their 2002 installation, "Enemy of the State." The Toasters continue to tour the US and the rest of the world.
