Tommy Roland Shaw is the original name of this artist, he was born on September 11, 1953, in Montgomery, Alabama. Initially, Tommy Shaw worked with local bands that improved his art at an early age. His opportunity to get noticed by Styx came to him when he was seen performing at a 2-week club gig with MS Funk, a Chicago-managed outfit. This gig took place in Chicago. He played with them for around 3 years and then he gained popularity once he began plying his art with the rock band Styx. After that he never looked back and continued to rise above the horizons. While he was working with Styx, he played his guitar with the super group called Damn Yankees, also he released many solo albums. A recent news says that on 22 February 2008, Tommy Shaw is going to be inducted into an awards banquet in the Alabama Music Hall of Fame.
