Umphrey Mcgee
"Umphrey's McGee" is better described as hailing from the Midwest, Chicago, in the mid-'90s. This cool band is a sensational hard-edged jam band. Their sizzling music is very well referred to as ''progressive improvisation.'' The band members moved toward the famous Frank Zappa side of the famous rock scale than the so called Grateful Dead direction that is taken by many of their other contemporaries. The talented members of the band eventually met at the reputed University of Notre Dame, South Bend, IN. All the band members had been playing in different campus bands and eventually by the time they really gel together in 1998. This band comprises six members and proudly named themselves after the popular second cousin of the cool bandleader and guitarist Brendan Bayliss. During their initial day; the band members quickly began performing with high power electrifying live shows and after some time they issued their debut album, and named it as Greatest Hits, Vol. 3. The band was a superb fourth-generation jam band and they often included some very popular songs by Phish and other similar bands. The band is much more influenced and thoroughly inspired by the progressive rock bands like Dream Theater, King Crimson, Yes and Genesis and some hot heavy metal bands such as well known Iron Maiden.

The band has earned a large and fervent following in the vast South Bend area in the early days of their carrier. The roots of the band firmly lie in the fri music. Half of the famous band members have degrees in the field of music and the sheer emphasis was always on constant and diligent precision. The band members practiced very hard and they really studied tapes of their superb performances to really improve themselves. By 1999, the superb band was already huge popular outside of Indiana. Their incredible live performances were warmly well received by the audiences. That really inspired them to issue their live album Songs for the popular "Older Women." The tracks of this album were recorded over a two-night thrilling performance in November 1998. The band covers a wide range of Artists that includes some famous name like Lionel Ritchie, Metallica, Snoop Dogg and many more.
By the beginning of 2000, the band members had already moved from their famous native South Bend to Chicago. After this the band members, went on a thorough two-week jaunts throughout the Midwest, besides sharing the electrifying stage with a variety of talented musicians. This enormous list includes Dr. Didg, who is also known as Graham Wiggins, and who is the well known famed Chicago-based blues soothing harmonica player, Topaz, Béla Fleck, Sugar Blue, and many others. On the New Year's Eve of 2000, band released their third album; this was another live disc and named it as "One Fat Sucka."
