The city of Ventura is located in the state of California, United States. Ventura lies in the 'Ventura County' and is also the county-seat of the same. Although the official name of the city is 'San Buenaventura', it is mostly referred to as 'Ventura'. According to 2006 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city stands at 106,744.

Ventura was incorporated in the year 1866. As per the United States Census Bureau, Ventura has a total area of 84.6 km², of which 64.51% is land. The city has the Ventura River and the Santa Clara River at its northern and southern side respectively. Ventura is famous for being a popular surfing location.

The 'Surfer's Point' is located in the city of Ventura. This is said to be arguably the best surfing spot in entire Southern California. The city's downtown portion is laden with several museums, galleries and dining outlets. Other famous spots in downtown Ventura are the 'Mission San Buenaventura', the city ornate hall building and the historic 'Ortega Adobe'. One of the popular cultural centers of the city, the Rubicon Theatre Company, is also located in downtown Ventura. Over the years, downtown Ventura has become a popular center for shopping and nightlife.

The site known as the 'two tress' is a popular tourist spot in the city. The city is particularly famous for being the home of the Ventura Country Fair. Over the years, this fair has seen epic performances by legends, such as Jimi Hendrix, The Grateful Dead and Smokey Robinson.

The 'Majestic Ventura Theater' is a popular cultural center in the city. The theater hall has served as a venue for concerts of many cult acts, such as 'The Doors', 'Van Halen', 'X, Paramore', 'She Wants Revenge', 'Pennywise', 'Social Distortion', 'Bad Religion', 'Fugazi', 'Incubus', 'Tom Petty', 'They Might Be Giants' and 'Modest Mouse'. Ventura is also a major stop for the 'Vans Warped Tour' and a number of recognized line-ups have performed at the 'Ventura Seaside Park' as a part of the tour.
