Jacksonville Municipal Stadium - Venue Tickets, Schedules, Seating Charts, and Information

The Jacksonville Municipal Stadium is a well-known football venue that is situated in Jacksonville, Florida. It is the official home to the Jacksonville Jaguars NFL franchise team. The stadium covers almost 10 acres of land and offers a huge seating capacity for 76,877 people. The stadium, which was earlier known as ALLTEL was constructed after replacing the Gator Bowl Stadium that was built in the year 1949. The construction work for the Jacksonville Municipal Stadium was finished in less than twenty months, costing a total of 134 million dollars, $60million of which was sponsored by the city of Jacksonville. The west upper deck of the old Gator Bowl Stadium was retained in the newly constructed stadium and was added in the year 1982. The stadium played host to the Super Bowl XXXIX in the year 2005 in which the team of New England won the championship title after defeating the Philadelphia Eagles by a narrow margin of 24-21. A 47 million dollar project was implemented in the year 2003-2004, as a part of a very famous project to prepare the stadium for the next Super bowl.

As a part of the assignment, a unique sports bar called the “Bud zone,” a large scoreboard display, escalators in the north and south end zone and a new "terrace suite" above the "Sports Bar" in the south end zone were to be included in the improvement task. After witnessing low attendance figures and blackouts before the 2005 session, the officials of the team decided to install a series of tarps and covers to reduce the seating capacity for the upcoming Jaguars games. These shelters blocked out seven sections in the upper north end zone and four in each upper deck. So at least 9,000 seats were kept out of service. Despite performing these changes, blackouts still occurred in the first two of their first three home games against Atlanta Falcons and the Houston Texans in the year 2007.
