The Xcel Energy Center is a sports arena located in Saint Paul, Minnesota, U.S. Xcel Energy sponsors the center. The arena is home to the NLL's Minnesota Swarm and the NHL's Minnesota Wild. It is owned by The City of Saint Paul and Minnesota Sports & Entertainment is the operator of the Xcel Energy Center. They also own the Wild and Swarm. HOK Sport is the designer and the center sports a multi – surface. It was constructed for a large amount of 130 million dollars and the arena has a capacity of 18,064 seats. The arena was inaugurated in the year 2000. It was constructed on the place of the demolished St. Paul Civic Center. ESPN named the arena as the best overall sports venue in the United States, in the year 2004. The center features four levels that include one suite level and three general seating levels. They are named the 100 level, the 200 level and the club level.

Several events have taken place at the Xcel Energy Center. The NHL All-Star Game set a record at a hockey game in Minnesota with 19,434 fans attending the match. A wild game was also conducted. Shania Twain performed in the arena in October of the year 2003. The turn up was just wonderful. 20,554 people came to watch the concert. The center also played host to the final game of the WCHA Final Five tournament. On 3rd July, of the year 2007, the 10 millionth spectator entered the gates of the center to watch the Police Reunion Tour. The presidential nominee for the Democratic Party, Senator Barack Obama gave his first speech here on 3rd June in the year 2008. More than 17,000 spectators witnessed the event held in the arena. Barry Manilow has also performed in the year 2008 as part of his world tour. In future, the center will play host to the 2008 Republican National Convention.
