The city of Victorville is located in the state of California. Victorville lies in the San Bernardino County. According to the 2000 Census, the population of the city stood at 64,029. However, recent estimates by the state of California suggest the population to be 107,721.

Victorville is situated at the southern edge of the 'Mojave Desert' and is approximately 81 miles away from the city of Los Angeles. It is bordered by the Apple Valley, Hesperia and Adelanto on the east, south and west respectively. The famous Mojave River flows through this city. The city was named after the 'California Southern Railroad' General Manager 'Jacob Nash Victor' and was incorporated in the year 1962. As per the United States Census Bureau, the city covers a total area of 189.8 km², which is 99.29% land.

Victorville is particularly famous for being the home of the 'San Bernardino County Fairgrounds'. The 'California Route 66 Museum' is also presently located here. The city got much fame for being the venue of the 'six hour autonomous robot driving contest' in the year 2007. The event was called the 'DARPA Urban Challenge' and the race was held on the street of the Southern California Logistics Airport.

The famous high-security federal prison for men, 'The United States Penitentiary', is also situated in this city. Over the years, a number of films have been shot in this beautiful city, such as 'Lethal Weapon', 'Grand Theft Auto', 'The Hills Have Eyes', 'The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift', 'Contact', 'Terminator III: Rise of the Machines', 'Play It to the Bone', 'Kill Bill-Part 2' and 'Breakdown'.
