Juaquin Maphurs was born on May 31, 1986 in Queens, New York. A few years later his moniker, Waka Flocka Flame was bore out his cousin's love for the Muppets and fellow rapper Gucci Mane. As a rapper and part of 1017 Brick Squad, he has been performing since 2008. Now, in 2010, he finally has his own album and is selling Waka Flocak Flame tickets to see him in concert.

His big break came when his track "O Let's Do It" blew up in 2009. The solidified his place on Asylum's label and helped him land time in the studio to record a full-length album, not just another single. Waka Flocka Flame has had a set back though. On January 19, 2010 he was shot and robbed in Atlanta while using a car wash. He survived, obviously, because the bullet went straight through his right arm.

With a full-length debut album, Flockaveli, out, he received more attention, as did the 1017 Brick Squad.
