West Hartford is a town situated in the state of Connecticut, United States. The town lies in the Hartford County and was incorporated in the year 1854, before which it was considered a parish of Hartford. Even today, the town is regarded as primarily an upmarket inner-ring suburb of the city of Hartford. According to the 2005 census, the population of the town stands at 61,173. The town is surrounded by the Metacomet Ridge on its west side and a mountainous traprock ridgeline along most of its other sides. The Metacomet Ridge in West Hartford includes the famous 'Talcott Mountain' and many other highland reservoirs of the Metropolitan District

West Hartford has a vibrant famous downtown known as the West Hartford Center. This area has been the entire community's hub for over four hundred years now. In the year 2008, West Hartford got the major honor of being ranked at the #76 position on the list of '100 Best Places to Live', made by a reputed magazine.
