The city of West Sacramento is located in the state of California. West Sacramento lies in the Yolo County and is separated from Sacramento by the Sacramento River, which is also the county line. As a result, West Sacramento and Sacramento are in different counties. According to the 2000 census, the population of the city stood at 31,615. However, the population of the city is presently estimated to be 44,162

West Sacramento was incorporated as a city in the year 1987. The city comprises of three different places that were formerly distinct towns. These were Broderick, Bryte, and West Sacramento. Along with these three places, the city also includes the Southport area. The city has a rich history to its name and features in many tales of the Gold Rush era.

As per the 'United States Census Bureau', the city covers a total area of 22.9 square miles and is 91.64% land. The city is a part of the 'Sacramento–Arden-Arcade–Roseville' Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is famous for its agriculture and transportation industry.

The famous minor league baseball team, 'Sacramento Rivercats, plays is from West Sacramento and plays at the famous Raley Field'. The club has many accomplishments to its name, including a 'Triple-A World Series'. The city also has many famous hotels and retail centers to its name.
