Westwood is a CDP (Census Designated Place) in the state of California. It lies in the Lassen County and according to the 2000 Census, its population is estimated to be 1998. As per the United States Census Bureau, the CDP covers a total are of 5.5 square miles, of which 99.64% is land and 0.36% is water.

There are many tourist attractions in Westwood. The CDP is spotted with statues of the mythological lumberjack from the tall tales of American folklore, Paul Bunyan and his blue ox named Babe. According to the mythological tale, Westwood is the home of Paul and his ox. The non-profit organization 'Mountain Meadows Conservancy' is based in Westwood. The aim of this organization is to preserve Westwood's rural culture and the mountain habitats of the endangered species of this CDP. Protection of the sacred Maidu sites in Westwood is another objective of this organization.

Westwood is also known for the fact that it has a large number of stray dogs. It is due to this fact that it has also been once featured on the television show, 'Ripley's Believe it or Not'. The claim was that the town had more number of dogs than humans. Although this statement cannot be confirmed, any visitor would the large number of stray dogs roaming around the streets of this place much higher than that of any other town.
