The city of Wheaton is located in the state of Illinois, United States. Wheaton falls in the DuPage County and also the county seat of the same. It is just 25 miles away from the city of Chicago and is also a part of the 'Chicago Metropolitan Area' as well as the 'Illinois Technology and Research Corridor'. According to the 2000 census, the population of the city stands at 55,676.

Wheaton was incorporated as a city in the year 1859 and was re-incorporated in the year 1890, when the first mayor of the city was selected. As per the United States Census Bureau, the city covers a total area of 11.3 square miles, of which 99.35% is land. The city has many major tourist attractions, such as the 'Wheaton Public Library', the 'Wheaton Center', the 'Wheaton Park District', the 'Cantigny Park and Golf Course', the 'DuPage County Fairgrounds' and the 'Wheaton Grand Theater'.

The Wheaton Public Library is frequently ranked as one of the best libraries in the entire nation. Moreover, there have been recent additions made to the stocks of this massive library as well. The above-mentioned 'DuPage County Fairgrounds' is the venue of the annual 'DuPage County Fair'. The fair is an extremely popular event and over the years, it has featured many star entertainers including Ashlee Simpson, Plain White T's, Travis Tritt and Jesse McCartney. The major shopping center here is the 'Wheaton Center'. It is a 758-unit, six building apartment complex that covers an area of 14 acres.

There is a predominant golf culture in the city. The city is full of reputed golf clubs and courses, such as the private golf club named 'Chicago Golf Club', the 'Cantigny Park and Golf Course' and the 'Arrowhead Golf Club', which is a part of the Wheaton Park District. A popular cultural center of the city is the Wheaton Grand Theater. The theater was found in the year 1935 and over the years, it has witnessed many great performances.
