The city of Whitewater is located in the state of Wisconsin, United States. Whitewater falls partly in the Jefferson and partly in the Walworth county. According to the 2000 census, the population of the city stands at 13,437. The total area of the city, as per the 'United States Census Bureau', is 7.3 square miles, off which 96.02% is land.

The city of Whitewater was found at the confluence of 'Whitewater Creek' and 'Spring Brook'. Whitewater got its name after the white sand in the beds of the creek and the brook. Whitewater is a culturally active city and it hosts a number of annual events. Some of them are : 'Open House', the 'Freeze Fest', the 'Bridal Fair', 'Donkey Basketball' and the 'Farm Toy Show' and the 'Maxwell Street Day'. Another very popular event is the 'Minneiska Water Ski Show', which is held every saturday evening on the Whitewater Lake.

The city is also the home of the reputed 'University of Wisconsin-Whitewater'. The 'UW-Whitewater' is a part of the University of Wisconsin System. In fact, when it was found in the year 1868, it was the second public college of Wisconsin. The Young Auditorium at the university, is a major center for entertainment and it showcases performances by reputed artists all through the year.
