Wilco's music has been influenced by an assortment of different artists and styles, such as Bill Fay and Television, while on the flipside also providing the influence for the music of a some other modern alternative-rock performers. Wilco originally set out in the alternative-country style of Uncle Tupelo with its debut album A.M. in 1995. However, the band has since taken a more experimental direction with their music, by throwing in elements of classic pop and alternative-rock on top of the previously prominent alternative-country style. Wilco has released seven studio albums, one live double album, and three collaborative records – one with The Minus 5 and two with Billy Bragg. Wilco's work has also been nominated for a few awards between 1999 and 2008; most notably in 2005 when they took home two Grammy Awards – Best Recording Package and Best Alternative Music Album – for their fifth studio album, 2004's A Ghost Is Born. Wilco has just recently released their seventh studio album, Wilco (The Album), in June, 2009. Being daring and innovative is something this band seems to thrive on, while seemingly leading them to be recognized as one of the current great alternative choices of the day.
