The city of Williamsport is located in the state of Pennsylvania. Williamsport lies in the Lycoming County and is the county seat of the same. It is a part of the 'Williamsport, Pennsylvania Metropolitan Statistical Area' and is also the principal city of the same. According to the 2000 census, the population of the city stands at 30,706.

Williamsport is surrounded by the West Branch Susquehanna River, the Loyalsock Township, the Old Lycoming Township and the Woodward Township in its south, east, north and west respectively. The city is about 130 miles away from the city of Philadelphia. As per the United States Census Bureau, the city covers an area of 9.5 sq miles, of which 93.08% is land.

There are many reputable educational institutes in this city, such as the Lycoming College, the Pennsylvania College of Technology and the Newport Business Institute. Currently, the town is under a major revitalization project, under which amphitheaters, multi-purpose arenas and bridges are either being made or have already been finished. Williamsport's public library, the James V. Brown Library, is a also a major tourist attraction. The library also offers schooling opportunities.

The city has a resound sporting culture. The famous NYPL baseball club 'Williamsport Crosscutters' is from this city. The team has a proud tradition and over the years, it has won two championships. Williamsport also hosts the 'Little League World Series' every year and also has the headquarters of the 'Little League Baseball'.
