The city of Windsor is located in the Province of Ontario, Canada. Windsor falls in the Essex County and is the southernmost city in the country. It lies at the western end of the densely populated 'Quebec City-Windsor Corridor' and is separated from the city of Detroit by the Detroit River. The city is popularly known as the 'Rose City' and its residents are often called the 'Windsorites'. This is because of the several parks and gardens found on the city's waterfront. According to the 2006 Census, the population of the city stands at 216,473, which makes it the 20th most populous city in the country.

Windsor is a popular spot for tourists and has many tourist attractions, such as the casino 'Caesars Windsor', the art gallery 'Little Italy', the 'Odette Sculpture Park' and the 'Point Pelee National Park'. A major cultural center of the town is the Capital Theatre in downtown Windsor. Over the years, this venue has showcased many feature films, plays, musicals and other performing arts.

The city co-hosts the 'Windsor-Detroit International Freedom Festival', along with the city of Detroit, every year. The event showcases some spectacular fireworks to celebrate the 'Canada Day' and the 'American Independence Day'. Windsor is a major gaming attraction and the city boasts of some of the world's most popular casinos.

Windsor has a rich sporting tradition. The city is home to a number of youth, minor league, post-secondary and professional teams, such as the hockey team 'Windsor Spitfires', the Lacrosse team 'Windsor AKO Fratmen', the football team 'Windsor AKO Fratmen', the soccer team 'Windsor Border Stars' and the rugby team 'Windsor Rogues Rugby'. For the past few years, the city has also been actively lobbying for a Canadian Football League franchise.
