The Woodbridge Township is a township in the state of New Jersey, United States. The township falls in the Middlesex County, United States and as per the 2000 census, the population of the city stood at 97,203. However, according to the Census Bureau estimates of the year 2005, the population is estimated to have grown to 100,577, making it the fifth most populous municipality in the state of New Jersey.

The township was named after the renowned reverend John W. Woodbridge of Newbury, Massachusetts. Woodbridge is arguably the oldest original township in New Jersey and was incorporated in the year 1798. As per the United States Census Bureau, the township covers a total area of 24.2 square miles, of which 95% is land.

The Woodbridge Township comprises of several distinct communities. Although some of these communities even have their own ZIP Codes, they are all incorporated areas and only together they form the Woodbridge Township. Some of these communities are : 'Avenel', 'Colonia', 'Fords', 'Iselin', 'Port Reading' and 'Sewaren'.

The area has a thriving music and sporting culture. Over the years, the area has produced some of the finest and most renowned musicians and sportsmen, such as the popular guitarist of the band 'Bon Jovi', 'Richie Sambora', the accomplished NFL and Canadian football player and coach 'Tom Higgins' and the football player 'Denver Broncos'
