The city of Worcester is located in the state of Massachusetts, United States. Worcester falls in the Worcester County and is also the county seat of the same. According to the 2006 Census Bureau Estimates, the population of the city stands at 175,898, making it the second most populous city in the entire New England region. The city is located in Central Massachusetts and is often referred to as the 'Heart of the Commonwealth'.

Worcester is surrounded by the towns of Auburn, Grafton, Holden, Leicester, Millbury, Paxton, Shrewsbury and West Boylston. As per the United States Census Bureau, the city covers a total area of 38.6 square miles, of which 97.41% is land. The picturesque Blackstone River passes through the city.

Several famed libraries and museum are located in Worcester. Some of them are : the national library 'The American Antiquarian Society', the famous 'Worcester Art Museum', which has works of many great artists and the Science Museum, EcoTarium. Another popular museum is the 'Higgins Armory Museum', which is the only museum in the entire Western Hemisphere for to arms and amours. Many accomplished sports clubs are based in this city, such as the baseball tea 'Worcester Tornadoes', the hockey team 'Worcester Sharks' and the football clubs 'New England Surge' and 'Worcester County Wildcats'.
