Ziggy's
Undoubtedly, the most popular place amongst the music lovers of North Carolina. It also has a bar serving refreshing cocktails and drinks. The architects, engineers and interior decorators outdid themselves with Ziggy's. The club is set in a manner that, no matter where you are seated, the musicians/band is visible to you from any corner of the room. Everyone who passes through North Carolina tries to spend an evening at Ziggy's. A premier club in the south, it now also has a sister club, Ziggy's by the sea. Ziggy's by the Sea operated in Atlantic Beach, NC until 2005. It is situated three miles north of the town center.
The club opens at 9 in the evening to 2 in the morning, monday through saturday. Locals and curious passers thought the club was built by Grammy-winning Jamaican singer Ziggy Marley, son of the legend Bob Marley. Wake Forest alumnus Jay Stephens founded Ziggy's in the early 1980's. However, Ziggy Marley contributed a lot of funds to ensure the club remained open in the 1990's. Being a fan of the club's style and concept, Ziggy Marley himself has performed several times. Ziggy's philosophy "Roots - Rock - Reggae" philosophy is displayed on the 7 foot square logo at the rear of the main stage.
A true North Carolina institution. Be it a teenager or an old man, it does not matter as long as their purpose is good music. This month Ziggy's is going to rock with artist like - A kiss for jersey, Poison the well, Possum Jenkins, Seldom Scene, Edwin McCain, Cosmic Charlie, Mother's Finest, Absolute 80's along with others. Ziggy's, the famous live music venue at Winston-Salem is a favorite destination for popular bands and crazy music lovers like the rest of us. Entry tickets for the club are rare as the venue is always packed a recommendation would be to buy the tickets now and spend a relaxing evening immersing yourself to live music of all genres. The quality of musicians who have performed here is legendary. Different style of music at Ziggy's. Right from Rock, Jazz, Hip Hop, Americana, reggae, Folk, Pop to Metal and Bluegrass, every genre of music can be found at Ziggy's.
Some bands that have performed here are Dave Matthews Band, Korn, Deftones, Bob Marley and the Wailers, 311, Hootie and the Blowfish and so on. Not that Ziggy's welcomes and limits itself to successful bands alone. Local bands have always been encouraged to showcase their talent at their studio. Music royalty have performed here but Ziggy's is not a pretentious, uppity club. They give away 1 pair of tickets weekly. Moreover, their website is chock-a-block with new updates and offers.
